Honoring our Country on September 11, 2009

This morning I woke up with a lilt in my step and the joy of opportunities that exist for us .

To make a difference each and every day in the lives of others and our country is profound.

Today is NOT about color, style, fit or “looking good, feeling good or having fun doing it”  (my mantra).  Today is about recognizing our country.

Traveling  today made me realize how easy we have it.  All I have to do is load up my car and go.  Hardly do I stop and think about where I am going.  I don’t think about taking a passport to cross state lines.  It made me stop and acknowledge the freedom we share here in America.  Not everyone has it this easy.  In fact most of the world doesn’t have it this easy.

I have a sense of gratitude for what our soldiers do to protect us and maintain our freedom.  Do you realize how fortunate we are to be able to disagree with one another over health care, government reform, political leaders and more?  So on this day of all days, it seems appropriate to spend at least a portion of the day in memory of all those who have gone on before us and those who continue to fight to allow us the opportunity for free speech, the right to bear arms, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  For without these people we would not be the country we are today.

Never, ever forget where you came from.  Support those who protect our rights and educate yourself so that you know what true freedom really is.  Don’t complain unless you have a solution and get involved with the solution.  While you are at it, smile…..it’ll make someone wonder what you are up to!
