Day #23 in the PINK-History in the Pink!

I have a good friend and colleague Cheryl Lampard from Style Matters International that corresponds with me regularly.  Recently, in one of her newsletters she posted some great facts about Breast Cancer Awareness that I thought you might find interesting.

Yes, I’m in PINK today but nothing “new” so I thought this would be more interesting!  Isn’t it amazing what the force of the human spirit can do!   Check out this free MP3  song called Celebrate My Life by Candy West.

  1. 1974 First Lady Betty Ford spoke candidly about her breast cancer
  2. 1985 National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is launched
  3. 1992 Estee Lauder begins the era of the pink ribbons (as of 2009, 85 million will have been distributed)
  4. 1992 AVON launches a crusade in the UK
  5. 2005 Delta Airlines paints a 757 Pink (since then this plane has flown over 3 million miles)
  6. 2009 NFL Teams done pink shoes in honor/support of October Breast Cancer Awareness Month

I love the indominable spirit of all those whose passion is to find a cure-for any cancer.  It is gratifying to know that we can do this…Together we can!
